The Solution
- To write a bespoke software tool to assist in the management of:
- Booking in and receipt of over 1,500 pallets
- 160 S.K.U.’s in offsite short term warehouse
- Production of personalised picking notes and carrier labels
- Best cost routing of packed items to ensued on time delivery globally
- Management reporting
- Secured high quality storage unit of 35,000 square feet for five month duration of the job
- Flexibility, time and motion studies to ensure best practice pick and pack method
- Design and procurement of bespoke packaging ensuring ease of packing, cost effectiveness and security of contents
Execution
- Design, purchase and implementation of complex gravity fed conveyor system totaling some 150 meters to assist in pick and pack operation
- Implementation of bespoke software
- Work completed 3 weeks ahead of schedule
- Proven 99.6% pick accuracy achieved with manual operation
- Cost benefit to client confirmed at 16% over previous provider
